Elon Musk is once again showing off Optimus: Tesla’s humanoid robot. Debuted in 2021 as a prototype called Tesla Bot, Tesla’s We, Robot event showcased a lot of improvements Musk claims to have been made to Optimus since then. Sources at the event sent TechCrunch videos of the robots mixing drinks, walking around the party, and even dancing. It’s all impressive, until you catch that according to later reports, the robots were being remotely operated by humans.
Musk claimed at the event that the Optimus robots will be able to watch your kids and do the dishes, and continued to project that they will cost around $20k to $30k. But note that Musk has not always followed through on his bold predictions. And for those interested in furthering Optimus research, Tesla is offering up to $48 an hour to pretend to be Optimus.
