TikTok adds new ways for creators to raise money for charities

TikTok is rolling out new ways for creators to raise money for charities and causes they’re passionate about. The company is partnering with Goodstack, a fintech company that manages charitable donations, to enable creators to support organizations from its validated database of nonprofit partners, including the American Red Cross and Save the Children. TikTok is also introducing the ability for creators to personalize their fundraisers.

Creators can now add custom titles, descriptions, background images, and goal amounts to their fundraising pages. They also have a dedicated space to share why they are passionate about the cause through a personal message or story.

Every fundraiser has dedicated stickers that creators can share in their videos, posts, and LIVEs. The stickers aggregate total donations from all of the distributed stickers.

Although TikTok has had standard donation stickers since 2020, the new updated donation experience allows creators to launch personalized fundraisers and promote them better. In the past, you could only share a standard donation link via a sticker. Now, you can choose to do something personal, like start a fundraiser to raise $500 for the American Heart Association in honor of a friend.

“From international nonprofits to local community initiatives, creators can now choose organizations they are passionate about from Goodstack’s validated database of nonprofit partners,” TikTok wrote in a blog post.

Founded in 2015, Goodstack is a SaaS company that helps manage charitable donations to notable organizations including UNICEF, the American Heart Association, WWF, Oxfam, UNHCR, and more. The company closed a $28 million Series A funding round led by General Catalyst a few weeks ago.
